Nnamdi Nwagwu

Nnamdi Nwagwu is an Afro-Italian choreographer and international guest artist, trained at Professione Danza Parma and Codarts University of Arts in the Netherlands. He also studied at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and the Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT), giving him an international education in contemporary dance. He has won prestigious awards, including the Premio Roma Danza 2024 and the Italian Dance Award 2022, as well as first place at the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) in the contemporary solo category.

As a dancer and choreographer, Nwagwu has worked with companies such as the Balletto di Parma, Ballet Preljocaj, Korzo Theater and the Fondazione Nazionale della Danza Aterballetto, as well as with well-known choreographers such as Philippe Kratz, Cayetano Soto, Francesco Gammino and Marco Goecke. In 2023, he became the first Afro-Italian choreographer to choreograph for the Stuttgart Ballet and presented his work Abuo at the Noverre in Stuttgart. His latest creation, Tito, premiered at the Lincoln Center in New York.

Nwagwu's art is presented worldwide, with collaborations in countries such as Spain, Nigeria, Cuba, Germany, Italy, the USA and France. He has performed at events such as the YAGP Gala, where he performed alongside Carla Fracci, and the Nervi Music Festival. He has also worked with students from the Royal Ballet School, the National Ballet of Canada and the Opéra de Paris as part of the AI23 program.

Nwagwu is constantly expanding his experience and also works with international brands such as Vogue, Tod's, Zalando, Amazon and Calvin Klein. He currently lives in the Netherlands, where he continues his work as a choreographer and dancer.
