INNSBRUCK GETS MOVING
Inspired by Innsbruck as a place of encounter, the idea for the " Innsbruck Winter Dance Festival " was born—a festival designed to position Innsbruck and its surrounding area as the Alpine capital of dance.
We are social beings. We need one another; we need community and spaces where we can see ourselves reflected. The goal is to establish the Innsbruck region as a hub for dance in Europe and beyond.
The Innsbruck region captivates visitors with its seemingly boundless diversity and its unique blend of alpine and urban character. On the one hand, it consists of the city of Innsbruck with all it has to offer: from sports and culture to architecture, universities, a vibrant local scene, and much more.
Another 40 towns and villages are part of the region: nestled among bustling valleys, sunny plateaus, and alpine landscapes, they offer opportunities for sports, nature, and cultural experiences. It is the proximity of the city and the mountains that makes the Innsbruck region so special.
This interplay is particularly evident in winter: While ski resorts, winter hiking trails, and alpine destinations await just outside the city, culture, cuisine, and the annual Mountain Christmas festival shape the city’s cultural scene.

The region of Innsbruck is as diverse as the events that delight visitors and locals alike. In the arts and culture sector, musical highlights such as the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music, the Innsbruck Promenade Concerts, and the Bridge Beat Festival are staples of Innsbruck’s event scene.
In the field of the performing arts, events such as the “Tyrolean Evenings”—which bring Tyrolean tradition and culture to life—the “Stars of Tomorrow” dance gala, the programs at the Tyrolean State Theater, and the many small dance schools have become well-established.
