In Los Bailes Robados, Spanish choreographer David Coria takes up the mysterious dance epidemics that occurred in Europe in the Middle Ages and early modern times. This phenomenon gripped entire communities: people fell into ecstatic dances for days on end, often to the point of complete exhaustion. Whether religious ecstasy, social crises or poisoning were the cause remains a mystery to this day. In Coria's interpretation, these historical mass phenomena become a symbol of collective longing, resilience and artistic liberation.
In Los Bailes Robados, the dancers move between wild ecstasy, dramatic stillness and harmonious unity. A shared body emerges from the chaos, creating new forms of rhythm and community.

Coria has developed his own choreographic language of flamenco, inspired by tradition but influenced by the avant-garde. With a clear political stance and aesthetic courage, he questions social norms and the relationship between the individual and the collective. The exceptional musicians David Lagos (vocals), Florencia Oz (cello and vocals) and Juan Jiménez (saxophone) , who are also present on stage, lend this experience an additional emotional depth.

Born in Seville, David Coroa is considered one of the most important voices in contemporary flamenco. His works Anónimo and ¡Fandango! have won international awards. His work has earned him the Talia Prize 2024 and the title of Best Dancer of the Year from tanz magazine, among others.

Los Bailes Robados invites the audience to a unique experience in which dance can be experienced as a ritual, as artistic questioning and as political expression.
