MITSURU ITO
Mitsuru Ito comes from Kanagawa, Japan, and completed his dance training at the Acri Horimoto Ballet Academy in Saitama, Japan, and at the Escola de Danza do Conservatorio Nacional in Lisbon. He gained experience with the Birmingham Royal Ballet, Cannes Jeune Ballet and Ballet National de Marseille. He has taken part in various competitions, including the Prix de Lausanne, the NBA Ballet Competition and the Japanese Grand Prix, and has always placed in the top three.
TRAINING AND BEGINNINGS
In the 2019/20 season, he became a member of the TanzCompany of the Tiroler Landesthater in Innsbruck, where he danced in productions such as The Tempest, Frida Kahlo - Nueva Pasion and Terra Baixa (choreography: Enrique Gasa Valga) Wolfgang Amadeus (choreography: Marie Stockhausen) and Cyrano de Bergerac (choreography: Filip Veverka). He has also been involved in choreographies by contemporary guest choreographers such as Nacho Duato, Jiri Kylian and Mauro Bigonzetti.
From the 2023/24 season, Mitsuru will be a permanent ensemble member of the Limonada Enrique Gasa Valga Dance Company, founded in 2023.
INNSBRUCK
What is your favorite place in Innsbruck?
My favorite place in Innsbruck is the 360 degree bar in the Rathausgalerie. You can enjoy the breathtaking view there with a good cocktail.
What do you like about Innsbruck and what makes it so special for you?
I like the people in Innsbruck. And I believe that - because Innsbruck is surrounded by so much nature - people are more relaxed and take time out more often.
What are your favorite leisure activities in Innsbruck?
I really like exercise and Innsbruck has a lot to offer in this respect - I can really let off steam there: I like snowboarding, bouldering and climbing, to name just a few examples.
This is my fourth year in Innsbruck, but there is still a lot for me to do and a lot of new things to discover.
Where is your favorite place to eat and/or linger in Innsbruck?
My favorite place to eat is definitely Umaya, a Japanese restaurant where you can enjoy the best quality Asian food.
