3rd Innsbruck Winter Dance Festival 2026
A new chapter full of movement, emotion and vision
The Innsbruck Winter Dance Festival 2025 is behind us - but the enthusiasm is still reverberating. For five weeks, Innsbruck and its surrounding vacation villages became the pulsating center of the international dance scene. Over 10,000 visitors flocked to the redesigned Dogana at Congress Innsbruck, and more than 2,000 dance enthusiasts took part in workshops, lectures and side events. In just two years, the festival has developed into one of the most exciting cultural highlights in Europe - and its potential is far from exhausted.
From 30 January to 8 March 2026, the festival will once again open its doors - with an ambitious, artistically diverse program that celebrates dance in all its forms of expression.
Highlights 2026
Carmen: Enrique Gasa Valga reinterprets one of the most famous characters in world literature and opera history. Passion, drama and expressive choreography merge to create an intense dance experience that tells the story of Carmen, the icon of freedom, in a modern way. For this production, Gasa Valga is collaborating with the Spanish La Factoria de Dansa for the first time, with two dancers from the company completing his ensemble.
Savin Salvador - A tribute to Dalí: Together with his Limonada Dance Company, Gasa Valga is developing an extraordinary dance musical about the life of the surrealist painter Salvador Dalí. Inspired by the personal experiences of his mother, who worked alongside Dalí as a nurse, the piece combines expressive choreography, surreal imagery and intimate storytelling. The Italian artist duo Alberto Talarico & Valeria Angesi are designing the set and Roberto Tubaro is composing the music.
Los Bailes Robados: With the Compañía David Coria, Gasa Valga brings a powerful work of contemporary flamenco to the stage as the crowning finale. David Coria's innovative style, his expressive body language and his social and political commitment make Los Bailes Rob ados one of the most impressive flamenco experiences of the present day.
Venues & side events
The main venue remains Congress Innsbruck, in particular the modernized Dogana. The popular side events are also returning - at unusual locations such as the Axamer Lizum, Innsbruck's old town or temporary stages in the open air. The combination of urban space, natural scenery and contemporary dance remains one of the festival's trademarks. The exact dates of the side events will be published in December 2025.
There will be a first dance kick-off in November 2025: On November 28 and 29, Innsbruck's city center will once again be transformed into a stage for spectacular flash mobs - a lively signal for a festival that celebrates dance as a public, unifying event.
